Introduction

Micro process engineering from Ehrfeld Mikrotechnik BTS

- A new dimension in efficiency -

Micro process engineering opens up new possibilities for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Whether in research, development or production, micro process engineering sets new standards for efficiency. It minimizes development times for chemical processes and enables production plants to be economically constructed. The result: Cost and time savings.
Micro process engineering is based on continuous operation and the utilization of the benefits that the implementation of microstructures brings. Basic chemical operations can be more efficiently carried out than in many conventional discontinuous systems.

- The extensive chemical spectrum -

More and more companies from the chemical and pharmaceutical industries are now placing their trust in our micro process engineering, not only in their research and development but also in their production, because of the fundamental benefits it provides:

- Extremely rapid mixing
- Effective heat exchange
- Narrow residual time distribution
- Low system inertia allows effective process control
- Easy process control and automation
- High operational safety by virtue of the low hold-up
- Simple scale-up

Our Modular Microreaction System offers companies a flexible, safe and cost-favorable development platform. Whether for new synthesis routes in the production of chemical compounds or for improvement in process intensification, micro process engineering opens up diverse opportunities. For such reasons, micro process engineering is already being successfully applied for fine chemicals and in the pharmaceutical industry. But customers are increasingly adopting this technology for the production of bulk chemicals, as the quantity produced can also be very easily suited to the particular requirement.

- Highest flexibility for basic process engineering operations -

Our system is based on innovative microreaction modules which can be quickly and simply combined with each other. In this way, easily controllable reaction plants are constructed, with which chemical syntheses can be highly economically and safely carried out.

Our microreaction plants can be very comfortably constructed. The individual reaction modules are arranged on a base plate. Clamping modules and sealing plates ensure stability and safety. Such systems are standardly designed for the following operating parameters:

- Temperature range from -20 °C to 200 °C
- Operating pressures of up to 100 bar
- Nominal flow rates of up to some 10 L/h for low-viscosity media

We can, however, considerably extend the limits for reaction temperatures, pressure and nominal flow rates with our special modules and stand-alone high flow rate modules. The following operating parameters are then possible:

- Reaction temperatures from -100 °C to 650 °C
- Operating pressure > 100 bar
- Nominal flow rates of up to some 1000 L/h

If required, we can match microreaction modules and their microstructures exactly to your specific demands and reaction conditions.
